On Friday, October 30, 2026, the Reformed and Presbyterian Seminary (RPS) community gathered in worship and reflection to commemorate the 509th Reformation Day. The gathering served as a time of renewed commitment to Reformed theology, rich fellowship, and historical remembrance. The service commenced at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome and opening prayer led by Elder Menuka Mishra, anchored in Hebrews 12:1–3, followed by introductory remarks from Rev. Jayraj Gurung. Music was central to the morning’s praise, with the RPS Small Choir leading moving renditions of time-honored hymns, including Martin Luther’s “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” “In Christ Alone,” “Ancient Words,” and “Amazing Grace.” Academic and theological reflections formed a core part of the morning: Mr. Santosh Kumal presented on the “Historical Background of Reformation,” revisiting the courageous convictions that ignited the 16th-century movement. Later in the program, Mr. Ravi Sonaha addressed the assembly on the “Theology of Martin Luther,” emphasizing the foundational doctrine of justification by faith alone (Sola Fide). The highlight of the event was the proclamation of the Word of God by guest speaker Rev. Dr. T S who delivered a keynote sermon titled “The Offensive Grace of God,” based on 2 Kings 5:1–19. His message challenged and encouraged the community to reflect deeply on the unexpected, unmerited, and radical nature of divine grace. Highlighting the cultural vibrancy and unity of the seminary, the RPS Student Body performed a special Nepali Folk Dance. The service was rounded off with the recitation of the Nicene Creed, led by Ms. Linoto M. Ayemi, vote of thanks by Elder Umesh Chemjong, and a closing benediction pronounced by Rev. Dr T S. Following the formal program, attendees gathered at 1:00 PM for a community “Love Feast” over lunch, fostering deep fellowship.

Soli Deo Gloria!
