Following the devastating floods in Nepal, members of the Reformed and Presbyterian Seminary (RPS) community, including staff and students, have been actively involved in relief and response efforts among flood-affected communities.
Responding to the urgent needs on the ground, our staff and students have volunteered their time and strength in various areas of relief work. Their involvement has included serving in relief camps, packing and organizing relief supplies, distributing essential materials, clearing debris from affected areas, and assisting communities in the difficult aftermath of the floods.
At the ground zero of the disaster, volunteers have witnessed the significant impact of the floods on families, homes, schools, and communities. Alongside local authorities, churches, organizations, and other volunteers, members of the RPS community have contributed wherever help was needed—whether through physical labour, organizing supplies, supporting affected families, or simply being present with those going through a difficult time.
These efforts remind us that theological education is not only about learning in the classroom. It is also about being formed as servants who are willing to step beyond the classroom and respond to the needs of people in times of crisis.
We are grateful to God for giving the RPS community the opportunity to serve. What may appear to be small acts of service, packing a relief package, clearing mud and debris, helping at a camp, carrying supplies, or spending time with affected families, can become meaningful expressions of Christ’s love and compassion.

We give thanks to God for every staff member and student who willingly participated in these relief efforts. We also appreciate all those who have worked tirelessly on the ground to bring assistance, comfort, and hope to communities affected by the floods.
God has been good to use the Reformed and Presbyterian Seminary community as His hands and feet in this difficult season. May these experiences continue to shape our students and staff into servants who are prepared not only to proclaim the Gospel but also to demonstrate Christ’s love through practical service.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
— 1 John 3:18 (NIV)
May God strengthen the affected families, comfort those who have lost loved ones and homes, and give wisdom and endurance to everyone continuing the relief and recovery work across Nepal.
