Reformed and Presbyterian Seminary (RPS) is currently holding its regular end-of-semester Timothy Leadership Training (TLT) intensive. The recurring event serves as a vital bridge between rigorous academic theology and practical, on-the-ground church ministry, equipping regional leaders for immediate service in their local congregations.
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
Paul’s charge to Timothy establishes the vital necessity of leadership succession in the visible church. The apostolic truth must be systematically entrusted to reliable men who are called to teach. In accordance with the biblical creation order and the Reformed understanding of church polity, a primary focus of this training is equipping qualified men for the authoritative preaching of the Word. As affirmed by the Westminster Larger Catechism (Q. 158), the preaching of the Word is reserved for those sufficiently gifted, duly approved, and called to that office. The TLT intensive at RPS ensures that those stepping into the pulpit are grounded in sound doctrine and prepared to faithfully handle Scripture.
